The Schola Sanctae Arildae is a mixed-voice choir specializing in Gregorian chant and early polyphony. Our focus is on music which is 500 to 1500 years old, composed for the liturgy of the medieval church, and sung in Latin. Yet today it is still heard in churches and recitals, and CDs of chant reach the charts.
We are a peripatetic choir based between Bath and Bristol, not attached to any particular church or denomination, so we are able to sing in a variety of settings on occasions for which this peaceful, meditative music is appropriate.
New members are welcome, so please do get in touch if you enjoy singing and want to participate in Gregorian chant. There is no need for you to have any previous experience of this type of music. All we ask is that you can sing in tune. If you are interested, please contact us.
